Mr. Mphatso Kawaye is a qualified Pharmacist and licensed to practice. He holds a Master of Science (Pharmacy) degree obtained from Taipei Medical University in June 2016.
He also has a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) degree from the College of Medicine of the University of Malawi obtained in 2009, and in addition he also holds a bachelor of Education (Sciences) majoring in Chemistry obtained from Chancellor College of the University of Malawi.
Mr Kawaye joined the PMRA as Drug Registration Officer on 1st April 2011, and served in this position until 2013, when he was appointed Acting Chief Drug Registration Officer. He also served as Acting Registrar from September 2016 to March 2019. Prior to joining the PMRA, Mr Kawaye worked as Lecturer in the departments of Basic Sciences and Pharmacy at the Malawi College of Health Sciences, Lilongwe campus. He served as Chief Medicines Registration Officer until his appointment as Director General in May 2022
